The mission of CAREER SERVICES is to help UMD students and alumni develop, evaluate, and implement their career plans.
Services
Career Counseling - Counselors can help students with all aspects of the career/life planning process, from choosing a major to carrying out a job search. Counselors assist students in gathering information about themselves and occupations and relating the information to career choice. Contact the office to make an appointment.

GoldPASS UMD Resume Referral Service - All students and alumni are eligible to register with Career Services using GoldPASS. Registration gives students the opportunity to have their resumes included in a database for referral to employers at their request and to be eligible for on-campus interviews.
Campus Recruitment - On-campus interviews are scheduled for students seeking internships before they graduate or employment after graduation. A number of organizations participate each year in on-campus recruiting. See On-Campus Recruitment for more information. Check with Career Services for schedules and up-to-date information.
Testing - Career Services is the regional testing center for national, state, and local testing programs. Information on graduate school admission tests such as the GRE, GMAT, MCAT, and LSAT, and other professional school and national licensure and certification examinations is available at the office.

Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS) - MCIS is a comprehensive web based career and educational planning guide to help Minnesotans of all ages explore their options. MCIS includes self-assessment activities which identify potential job titles and information on:

Study and training options
State and national schools
Financial aid
Job search
Employment and Internship Listings - Career Services makes available through the Internet, listings of employment opportunities for graduates, and internships for practical, on-the-job experience for current students. Additional information describing internship, summer, and part-time and full-time positions is available in the UMD Career Resource Center.
Alumni Contacts - Alumni in many career fields may discuss their backgrounds and career choices with students. For more information, or if you wish to conduct informational interviews or participate in "career shadowing," contact a career counselor.
Employer Presentations - Representatives of employers discuss career opportunities within their organizations and distribute company information. Check with Career Services for scheduled presentations.
Important Events
E-Fest - Each fall Tau Beta Pi, National Engineering Honor Society, Beta Chapter at UMD, co-hosts, with Career Services, a job fair which features employers seeking graduates and interns with interests and skills in the engineering, computer science, and other science fields.
Graduate and Professional School Day - Each fall Career Services sponsors a fair where representatives from graduate and professional schools nationwide come to campus to answer questions and provide information about their programs, admission standards, and financial aid.
Head of the Lakes Job Fair - Every year Career Services sponsors a job fair to help students meet with employers and explore various career options. Representatives from companies and agencies come to campus to discuss specific job and internship possibilities and share general career information with students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
Government Job and Internship Fair - Career Services participates in this annual fair, held in the Twin Cities, where representatives from federal, state, and local government agencies meet with students and alumni from the sponsoring Minnesota colleges and universities.
University of Minnesota Job and Internship Fair - UMD Career Services co-sponsors, with the other University of Minnesota career services offices from all four campuses, an annual job and internship fair in the Twin Cities, open to all University of Minnesota students and recent alumni. Representatives from companies and agencies are available to discuss job and internship possibilities and general career information.
Minnesota Education Job Fair - Career Services participates in the Minnesota job fair for teachers, an annual spring event held in the Twin Cities. Administrators of public and private schools from throughout the country send representatives to meet with and interview candidates for elementary and secondary positions.
