HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CLASS OF 2002 - 2003


The data for this report were collected through mail and e-mail surveys and follow-up telephone calls and is accurate as of January 2004.  The office of Career Services surveyed alumni who received undergraduate degrees from UMD between July 1, 2002 and June 30, 2003. This report is based on responses from 1095 graduates (82% of the reported 1339 undergraduate students granted degrees during the designated time frame).

Of the 1095 respondents,

  • 1020 (93%) reported “employed” or “continuing education,”
  • 856 (78%) reported “employed,”
  • 164 (15%) reported “continuing education.”
  • only 49 (4%) reported that they were still seeking employment.

Of the 856 employed,

  • 814 (95%) responded to a question about the relevance of their jobs to their majors,
  • with 634 (78%) reporting employment “related” or “somewhat related” to major,
  • 449 (55%) reported employment “related” to major,
  • 185 (23%) reported employment “somewhat related” to major.
  • 675 (79%) reported accepting employment in Minnesota.
